Networking

Looking for a place to network with other writers and potential beta readers?  Here are some websites to check out.
  • Blogger - one way to keep in touch with readers and other writers is by blogging and reading blogs. This is a great site to visit if you want to blog.
  • Facebook - the number one networking site in the world, Facebook is a terrific place to connect with like-minded people. Join a group or start one of your own.
  • Goodreads - a website specially for readers and writers.  A great site to promote your own writing. Many authors are members of Goodreads.
  • LinkedIn - LinkedIn is focused on letting you post your resume, job experience and interests to advance your career and network with others.
  • Shelfari - a community of readers similar to Goodreads but different.
  • StumbleUpon - sort of a search engine but different. You tell it what you are interested in and the site recommends pages to check out. You then rate the pages according to how they fit your needs. This helps the site narrow down choices specifically for you. Great if you don't want to wade through 50 pages in a Google search.
  • Twitter - along with Facebook, one of the best social networking sites in the world. Great place to meet likeminded people and to keep in touch with your readers and fans.
  • Wattpad - this publishing site is recommended by Margaret Atwood, but it does not pay writers. Similar to Fiction Press in that regard. But a great place to network with other writers and readers.
  • Wordpress - another great website to set up a blog and to discover other blogs about writing.
