eBooks are available in a variety of formats including ePub and Kindle. There are a number of programs that you can nuse to create books in these formats or convert from Microsoft Word to another format. The links are below.
  • Calibre eBook Management - Calibre is a great free program you can use to convert text from one format to another.
  • CutePDF Writer - this is a dandy piece of software for creating pdf format files. It works as a printer sub-system. You can convert any file, any format, to pdf by selecting the file and printing it. When you "print". select CutePDF Writer as your printer and it will convert the file and ask you where you want to save it.
  • Quantum Formatting Service - if you don't want to use a program like Calibre to do your format conversions yourself, you can hire Quantum Formatting Service for a fee.
  • Sigil the ePub Editor - Sigil is a free downloadable program that you can use to edit or create manuscripts in ePub format. It's sponsored by Google.
